The Vascular Limb & Crisis Bench

A conduit fails four ways: it narrows, it clots, it dilates or it tears. Set the four bedside findings below and watch the leg diagram and the plan change — because an arterial leg is kept down and a venous leg is elevated and compressed, and confusing the two reverses the treatment. Then work an ankle–brachial index to decide whether compression is even safe, and pick the first move in five emergencies where minutes cost tissue.
Finding 1 — pain and onset
Finding 2 — pulses and temperature
Finding 3 — skin
Finding 4 — the ulcer, if there is one
