Lipids Lab

Run the lipoprotein traffic in the blood, build fatty acids and watch them pack or flow, practise the fat math on real-looking labels, sort the big ideas and work through real-life scenarios. Nothing here is graded.

Part 1: Lipoprotein Traffic

Lipoproteins circulate clockwise. Chylomicrons (pale yellow) and VLDL (orange) drop off triglyceride at muscle and fat cells; VLDL becomes LDL (red); LDL is cleared by liver receptors; HDL (green) carries extra cholesterol back to the liver.
Blood lipid panel, mg/dL
Testmg/dLAdult referenceResult

A teaching model, not a clinical tool. LDL is set by how fast the liver makes lipoproteins and how fast LDL receptors clear them; values settle over a few seconds here instead of weeks. Diet effects are rounded from average study results and differ between people. Reference ranges are standard adult cut-offs in mg/dL. HDL depends mainly on genes, activity and smoking, so the sliders move it only a little.
