Med-Surg Nursing II · Module 3 · Stroke and increased intracranial pressure

Stroke and Increased Intracranial Pressure Lab

Fill a skull and watch pressure and perfusion respond, practice unlimited items at three levels, race the clock deciding what helps or harms, and work through bedside scenarios with fictional patients. Nothing here is graded.

Part 1: ICP Explorer

Your jobA hematoma is growing inside a skull that cannot expand. Change the volume, the blood pressure, the carbon dioxide level, positioning and treatments, and keep cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP = MAP minus ICP) at 60 to 70 with ICP at 20 or less. Work through the challenges on the right.

Teaching model, not a clinical calculator. Added volume = hematoma + carbon dioxide effect + head position + fever, minus drained CSF and water pulled out by hyperosmolar therapy. ICP follows an exponential pressure-volume curve; CPP = MAP minus ICP. The Cushing reflex appears when perfusion is failing.
