How the model works: ANC = WBC × (% segs + % bands) ÷ 100. Hematocrit is shown as about three times the hemoglobin. Febrile neutropenia is a temperature of 38.3°C once, or 38.0°C for an hour, with ANC under 500. Transfusion thresholds: hemoglobin under 7 g/dL, or under 8 g/dL with cardiovascular disease, or any symptomatic patient.
