A Year and a Day

A serf is not a slave, a manor is not a system, and a town charter is a legal document with a price. Run one household from 1150 to 1211 and watch three things move in opposite directions: legal freedom, coin, and security. Every choice tells you why it did what it did — and the road you take decides how much of the century you see.
