The spinal cord carries motor, sensory, and autonomic signals. An injury cuts those signals off. How high the injury sits decides how much of the body is affected. Look at the levels first. Then look at the shock states that can follow.
The spinal cord
Cervical is the neck, thoracic is the chest, lumbar is the low back. The higher the injury, the more is lost.
