SIRS → Septic Shock

How an infection spins out of control · Week 4
Sepsis is a runaway, whole-body reaction to infection. The old ladder climbed from a general inflammatory alarm (SIRS) up to septic shock. The current Sepsis-3 rules are tighter, and they are the ones that count: sepsis is an infection plus new organ dysfunction, and septic shock is sepsis that needs drugs to hold the pressure up. Step through it and watch the monitor.

Watch the vital signs and labs get worse as the infection takes over. The picture shows why. The vessel widens and springs leaks, pressure falls, and the organs downstream run short of oxygen.
