Burns

How deep did it go? · Week 6
A burn is sorted by how deep into the skin it reaches. Depth changes everything: the color, whether it blisters, how much it hurts, and whether it can heal on its own. Click each degree and watch the burn go deeper.

What it looks like

Burn complications: a big burn causes massive fluid loss (→ hypovolemic or burn shock) and infection, since the skin barrier is gone (→ sepsis). It also causes hypothermia, a drop in body heat. Breathing trouble can follow an inhalation injury. Later come contractures, tight scars that limit movement. The deeper & wider the burn, the higher the risk.
