Build a Specific Purpose Statement

Fix the general purpose first, then write one sentence: To + purpose verb + my audience + the precise outcome. Fill the slots below and the audit on the right runs the six rules live — and tells you the reason each rule exists. Get all six green and the statement stops being paperwork and starts being your outline.
1 · General purpose — pick the test, not the label
2 · Who exactly is in front of you
3 · The outcome verb
4 · How much you are claiming
5 · Sabotage switches — flip one and watch a rule fall

Purpose lives in the audience’s head, not in your notes. If the sentence describes what you will cover rather than what they will walk out able to do, you have written a table of contents and called it a purpose.
