Oral Communication · Chapter 4

The Perception Check Builder

A perception check has exactly three parts: the behaviour you actually saw, two interpretations you would genuinely accept, and a real question. Load a situation, then build the sentence one part at a time. The bubble on the right rebuilds live and tells you how each piece will land — including the versions that are an accusation wearing a question mark.

1 · Load a situation

Where did this misunderstanding start? Diagnosing the stage tells you the fix.

2 · Part one — the behaviour

Pick the opening a camera could have recorded. Past tense, no adjectives, no conclusions.

3 · Part two — two interpretations

Choose exactly two. One interpretation is an accusation with a question mark on the end.

4 · Part three — the question

Then stop talking. That is part of the move.

What you would actually say

Pick a behaviour, two interpretations and a question. The sentence assembles here.
