The Lesion Description Desk

Before anyone names a disease, a rash is charted in a fixed descriptive vocabulary: a color root, a lesion type and a size. Two of those three are locked together — the same structure changes its name the moment it crosses one centimetre. Set the structure, drag the size, add a color root, and watch the correct term rewrite itself. Then chart ten real findings.

5 · Primary or secondary?

Primary lesions arose directly on skin that was previously normal. Secondary lesions developed out of a primary lesion through scratching, infection, healing or time — they record history.
