Access Safety Bench: Fistula Rounds and the Dialysis Call

Dialysis buys time, not cure, and the nurse’s highest‑value contribution is protecting the access. Walk five accesses, performing one manoeuvre at a time — palpate, auscultate, inspect, check the hand — then name what you found. Then take eight calls from the dialysis unit, the peritoneal patient at home and the transplant clinic, and decide what you do first.
