Full texts (31) · Works in the public domain in the United States. Transcriptions from Project Gutenberg, with the Project Gutenberg header and licence text removed; the underlying works are not under copyright. Project Gutenberg is a registered trademark of the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation and is credited here as the transcription source.
The remaining 298 titles · still under copyright and therefore not hosted. Listed by title with a link to an Open Library catalogue search so a copy can be found.
Storytime (grades K–5)
58 stories · public-domain children’s literature. 27 are illustrated picture books rebuilt with the original artwork embedded in the file, so they need no network. Texts and scans from Project Gutenberg.
Content screening · the full text of every candidate was searched for racial slurs and racist caricature. 32 titles were rejected and are listed by name with the reason on the Storytime page, including well-known books such as Just So Stories, Heidi, Five Children and It and several Anne of Green Gables sequels. This screening is why the shelf is small.
Note on artwork · the illustrations are by Beatrix Potter, Randolph Caldecott, Leslie Brooke, Kate Greenaway, W. W. Denslow and others, all long out of copyright. Images were resized and recompressed for offline use; no image was altered otherwise.
