Every figure in this library carries a named author and an open licence. This page is the index; each book keeps its own full figure-by-figure record.
The site licence is not yet final. It cannot be chosen freely, and this page explains why.
486 of the 1,272 figures (38%) are ShareAlike, and the 3D atlas is CC BY-SA 4.0 inherited from Z-Anatomy and BodyParts3D. ShareAlike is copyleft, and it is incompatible with a NonCommercial licence — so a CC BY-NC edition of this library cannot legally be produced from these sources. CC BY-SA 4.0 is the licence this material points to. Under it the library stays free for everyone forever, and anyone redistributing it must do the same.
The books are built on OpenStax and other openly licensed scholarship. OpenStax texts are released under Creative Commons Attribution licences, which permit adaptation and redistribution with attribution — that permission is what makes this library possible.
Akash Anatomy — the 3D atlas
Derived from BodyParts3D, The Database Center for Life Science (DBCLS), licensed CC BY-SA 2.1 Japan — and Z-Anatomy, the libre 3D atlas of anatomy by Gauthier Kervyn, Marcin Zielinski and contributors, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0.
Meshes were converted from the Z-Anatomy Blender source to glTF and decimated for the browser; the anatomy itself was not re-modelled. English and Latin terms follow Terminologia Anatomica (2nd edition) as compiled in the Z-Anatomy TA2 table.
Redistributed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Anyone redistributing it, modified or not, must keep these attributions and license the result the same way.
